1. Place the window

The North Pole Window is a 3D-printed frame, sized for a shelf or a wall. It is meant to have a regular spot, the way a favorite book has a regular chair. Children should be able to find it without a search through a closet.

The frame does not charge and does not hold batteries. An NFC tag inside the marked area is passive. The phone does the reading.

2. A parent activates it

Each physical window comes with an activation code that is separate from the public tap address. The parent enters that code, an email address, and a password, then chooses a timezone and may add one optional child name for the parent account. That name is not shown on the window. We do not ask for a child’s age, birthdate, surname, or address.

The plain activation code is shown to the administrator only when the window record is created. After that, the database keeps a hash. Parents can register more than one window on the same email if they use the same password.

The parent area can later change the display name, change the timezone, and open two previews: the before-December scene, and whatever scene today actually is. It cannot open a future December day.

3. Tap the marked NFC area

A compatible phone held to the mark reads the tag and offers to open a private web page. Recent iPhones and many Android phones can read this kind of tag. Exact behavior depends on the phone, and a guaranteed device list is not published yet.

The page is ordinary HTML. There is no app store step and no child login. If a parent still has the private link, they can open it in a browser without tapping.

4. Come back each day

The page looks at the date in the window’s timezone.

If today’s scene is still a draft, the page says the view is not ready. It does not borrow tomorrow’s picture to fill the gap. Changing the web address cannot reveal a later day, because the address has no day in it.

What the child sees

Today’s picture comes first. A short story sits underneath, in case a parent wants to read it, and sometimes a silent video with a replay button. The child’s name is not on the page. There are no ads and no row of outbound links. The page is meant to be looked at and then put down.
